Psychogeography: The Houses in Modern and Ancient Astrology
In this class we will take a psycho-geographic approach to the houses, using the notion of 'place' and soul and mythological stories to understand each one. We will explore both the modern/counterclockwise approach to the houses based largely on psychological development and the astrological "12-letter-alphabet", as well as the ancient/clockwise approach based on diurnal motion of the Sun and planets through the sky.
We'll read widely in the astrological literature from modern, psychological, traditional, and Hellenistic sources. We'll also use experiential processes including astrodrama and art-making to understand them. The first class will be an orientation to the different house systems, and then from there we will have two classes on each of the houses. Each person will receive personalized data for the house under study which will include transits and progressions through that house across your life time as well as aspects to the house ruler.
