Jason Holley continues his mythic tour of the zodiac in this inspiring webinar on the Cancer archetype.
The appearance of Karkinos, the Great Crab, is a very brief episode in the ancient myth of Hercules and the Hydra, yet like many such momentary dreams and images placed in context, it can offer profound insight into the encounter with lunar consciousness and the borderlands of emotional process that Cancer involves. The principal players and settings in the story – Hera, an evolution of the Great Mother herself; Hercules, a solar hero; the Hydra, a lunar ‘monster’; and the Lake of Lerna, a mysterious deep body of water – all have complex stories through which we can both recognize and re-cognize Cancerian process.
In this webinar we will explore the ancient stories as well as the lives of individuals in modern psychotherapy with strong Cancer signatures, to develop a deeper and more complex understanding of Cancerian and lunar process – which like the crab depicted, occupy a borderland space between the land of consciousness and the deep life-giving yet turbulent seas of the unconscious. We will also consider how these dreams are continuously re-dreamt and re-imagined.
