2025 Living Astrologies Conference

Facilitator Workshop Information

I’m really happy you’re joining us! Here is a bit of orientation to help you in feeling out what you’d like to do:

  • Our space is a ‘convention center’ but not a steel-and-glass situation. It’s warm, Santa Fe style. Workshop rooms are contained but all have windows to the courtyard outside (if we have higher numbers and do an extra track of workshops they will happen in a very large room that is windowless). The dimensions of the rooms are large given our smaller size workshops, there will be a lot of room to move around if that’s part of your approach. It will also be possible to play music and make some sound without disturbing other groups.

  • Workshops will be the first ‘event’ of each day. To help with container, we will provide lunch onsite so people don’t have to go find food and so on. Possibly lunch can be taken in the workshop room. We plan to have a space for you to rest during lunch if desired, or you can hang with participants.

  • Attendee familiarity with astrology can be assumed but no particular technical background should be needed to make sense of what you are offering (except something that can be quickly shared or shared in a background doc sent ahead). Attendee maturity is of course not knowable entirely, however given our initial focus for attendance will be people we already know from experiential settings, this should create a solid core. Also, all participants will have read and been oriented and agreed to a set of agreements like this.

  • Please keep in mind that the center of the work is to empower people to have their own experience of astrology — so methods which facilitate this and make space for this are at the center.

  • Depth is desired, yet our context is a conference of people who mostly will not know each other beforehand. So as you design please consider this. We will also have some general norms around resourcing, psychological safety, and so on. The model is experiential education not psychotherapy, a distinction we will also share with participants.

  • Modalities we intend:

    • Active Imagination / Visualization

    • Astrodrama and Action Methods

    • Art and Art-Making

    • Ceremony and Ritual

    • Writing

    • Somatics and Movement

    • Work with Ancestors and Relations

    • Storytelling

    • Play

    • Work with Place and Land

    • Music

    • Dreamwork

  • You can center the offering around a particular experiential method or methods themselves or around a particular astrological topic. I recommend the latter (even if relatively broad) for support in focus.

  • The current plan is that people will register without choosing workshops. Then they will choose workshops a couple of months prior to the conference. To help in warm-up, and to cover what might be in a lecture, we will ask you to send ahead a couple of pages of material or reflective prompts so that people are already in conversation with your topic ahead of time.

  • You don’t need to know all of the “how” of the workshop at this time. Along the way, I will be sharing some material that may be helpful in design, and also in developing some relatedness among the different offerings, as well as available to thought-partner with you (I also highly recommend you to each other for this!)
