In this webinar of the Planets in Myth and Psyche series, we will dimensionalize and deepen our understanding of Mercury, through stories drawn from the Greco-Roman tradition as well as from the lives of people experiencing Mercury aspects natally as well as by transit and progression.

The most underestimated planet in the astrological pantheon, Mercury’s mythic reputation for invisibility and covering his tracks seems to have worked on astrologers. Yet so often what is mostly invisible is potent, making micro-adjustments to stories and situations which bring substantial and unexpected transformation.

In this webinar of the Planets in Myth and Psyche series, we will dimensionalize and deepen our understanding of Mercury, through stories drawn from the Greco-Roman tradition as well as from the lives of people experiencing Mercury aspects natally as well as by transit and progression.

Mercury’s mythology is full of descents, retrievals, crossings, encounters — profound images of change and movement. In story after story, Mercury loosens the “main characters” up, slips past defenses, opens roads to uncharted psychic territory. When Mercury arrives on the scene, in myth and in our lives, stuck places unstick, silenced parts start speaking, lost items return, others go invisible.

To the ancients, astrologers too were of the nature of Mercury: like the god we facilitate communication between the upper, middle, and underworlds, developing and enriching the connective field between conscious and unconscious. We will explore this role of psychopomp — ‘guide of souls’ — as well, and consider how a richer perspective on Mercury may also bring a richer practice of astrology.
